My Comment on Digitel Connection

I’ve read so many bad feedbacks about this company and I think most of them are right. First of all the only good thing that this company had done is the fast installation of the Internet. It just took 3 days after the application for it to happen.

Then I noticed the problem, the connection is slow. I availed Plan 999 and the speed is 512kbps but when I tested it, the DL speed is only around 250kbps and the Upload Speed is around 150kbps. At first I thought the connection was just adjusting but I’ve been observing it for almost a week now and there are almost same results. There are times when the speed increases but after a few minutes it goes down again.

I haven’t contacted the Support yet and after reading the feedbacks of other people I think I don’t have to. Its just a waste of time contacting them. I just hope this 2009, they’ll fix this problem so that I won’t be forced to change ISP.

Yet Another SEO Tips

Yes, as you’ve expected. This is just a review of some of the most basic yet effective strategies I have been using ever since I started SEO.

One of the oldest yet effective way (for me) of link building a site is still the Directory Submissions and Forum Postings. Well, I tested it on one of my site and it ranked fairly on the SE’s. Of course you won’t do that forever, what I did was I slowly added other things like Blogs, Articles, Social Book Marks and more. I also tried blog commenting (some say its spamming) it boosted my back links and also helped a lot on my rankings.

Titles and descriptions are very helpful on your campaign but don’t overdo it. Long exhaustive keywords just won’t do you any good. And if you think that making the title longer means you can add more keywords, wrong the longer the title is, the lesser the relevance of the words inside it. Limit it to 65 characters, while on the description, make it 150 chars.

Keyword Research is really important so be careful on choosing keywords, look for those keywords that are related,highly searched yet have less competition, one of the best tools out there are Adwords and Keyword Discovery so use them wisely.

Targeting long tailed and specific keyword is a must although sometimes it just ranks even if you do nothing. Long tailed and specific keywords are easy to target and they have higher chances of conversions. So you should take a look on that. Also Geo Targeted keywords are a must. This keywords may have very little traffic, but once a user types in those keywords, then most likely that person is really interested to buy.

PR is still a factor but not that much of a factor but still a factor. lol I noticed that if your site has a High PR, lets say PR 5, then most likely It’ll rank faster of course it also depends on how you work it.

Patience is a virtue. If you want to be a good SEO, then you should have patience. Sometimes, no matter how you work your ass off onto a site, It just won’t rank, if you give up easily then nothing will really happen. Its also a life lesson for me as one of my Superiors told me that. Just don’t give up.

You should also have Plan B, Plan C, Plan D so in case you failed on your first strategy, you must have a backup plan or something. SEO is a trial and error thing, sometimes your strategies just don’t work on other sites so you have to think of something. Never forget to ask, SEO’s are easy to approach in my experience

Well those are my 2 cents. I know the SEO Masters know this already and some may even have violent reactions. lol But those things are what I experienced and for me they are helpful. I’m still on a learning process, I still have a long way I just hope I’ll learn more.

Prison Break Season 4

For those few people who haven’t knew yet, but of course everybody knows it, Prison Break Season 4 have started a few weeks ago and its episode 5 now. The guys are now being forced to accomplish a dangerous task that involves the Company in exchange for their freedom. There are alot of twists and turns, many vital characters in Season 3 lost their lives in this season and some characters from the previous series are now back including Dr. Sarah Tancredi. The great T-Bag is still there and will be playing a vital role again, because he has the Bird Book.

This Prison Break mania has the likes of some old movies like Escape from Alcatraz and Shawshank Redemption. Those are nice prison movies and of course the main characters escaped. lol

I just love how those characters planned they’re way out. Like the one on the ShawShank Redemption, I didn’t know that he was planning to escape until he actually escaped. You got to watch that movie if you’re a big fan of PB.

My Grandma’s Portrait

I just got the Charcoaled Portrait of my Grandma that will serve as a gift from my uncle. One thing I could say is the guy who did this is great. Every details including the dress was virtually restored (the photo was older than me if I’m not mistaken). And it is relatively cheaper than the other Portrait Guys in the Mall. I highly recommend this painter.

WordCamp Philippines 2008

What can I say, I rarely go to gatherings like this but I really enjoyed it. And because I’m still a WordPress noob, I learned new stuffs. I also understood that WordPress isn’t just for blogs, it can also be used for Corporate Sites. Imagine that some of the US Government sites uses this platform and that is really something. Some topics I attended were from Mr. Jayvee Fernandez entitled: Blogging 102 - Basics and Beyond. I also attended Mr. Hans Koch’s talk about Wordpress for Corporate Sites and WordPress & SEO. I really learned some stuffs.

Lunch Break, thanks to Chowking we got free Food (and I also owe Richard from Chowking Shaw for returning my wallet). And for Spot.Ph for the dessert.

And for the main event, Mr. Wordpress ( Matt Mullenweg ) himself talked about the future of Wordpress and I’m really excited about the upcoming version, its a big change. There are also other speakers like the cute Ms. Aileen Apolo who talked about Google Analytics and Regnard Raquedan who talked about WordPress and SEO.

I Finally Got it!

And after many years of waiting, I finally bought my own personal domain. I have always wanted to buy this domain before but someone had it already. Its a good thing that me and my friends checked this domain if its available.

I’m Mark Z. Lagman 23 y/o Filipino. An SEO Specialist although I know I’m still a noob on this career. I also design web pages although I concentrate now on Web Optimization. I also play Basketball so those of you guys who wants to play, just invite me. Especially if the court is along Makati. My roots are from Pampanga but I stayed here at Makati for around 7-8 years because of studies and work.

A huge fan of Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao! And I heard that he and De La Hoya will fight this coming December. Damn, that’s a must see fight for everyone! Even though Manny is a huge underdog on this fight, I’ll still support him.

As I’ve said earlier, I’m also a Huge Basketball Fan. Mr. Elton Brand (EB) of the 76′ers is connected to Our Company and I’m really proud of it.
